Responsible for all aspects of Marketing for Hornblower Marine Services, including; coordinating and creating a corporate news letter, flyers, brochures, corporate profile, electronic industry newsletter, press releases, placing ads in Industry publications, responding to Requests for Proposals and information for the different facets of the company and other administrative needs as required.
Prior experience with Microsoft Computer applications, AdobePhotoshop with skills in general office management Excellent written and verbal communications skills Track record of Working successfully in a team environment A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field required, an MBA would be a plus

Chief Engineer (05/01/2008)
Join the Hornblower Marine Services team in the operation of the Hawaii Superferry, a high speed car/passenger ferry in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a Chief Engineer you will be responsible for the maintenance and engineering operations of the vessel and maintaining the vessel to manufacturer, Hawaii Superferry, and applicable regulatory standards. Supervision of engineering department crewmembers.
Successful candidates will be experience with an unlimited Chief Engineer USCG license; diesel experience. Prior supervisory skills with the ability to train, guide and mentor assigned crewmembers, highly desireable.
Port Engineer (07/01/08)
Join the Hornblower Marine Services team in the operation of the Hawaii Superferry, a high speed car/passenger ferry in Honolulu, Hawaii. Responsibilities include development and management of all vessel and shoreside equipment and systems preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and vessel dry-dock repairs.
Successful candidates will meet the following requirements. Demonstrated maritime experience in maintenance and repair of vessel systems and equipment.
Prior experience with High Speed Craft operations and maintenance preferred.
License Requirements: Chief Engineer, Motor vessels, unlimited horsepower preferred.
Must be able to lift and or move up to 75lbs.
QMED (07/14/2008) (Temporary)
Summary The QMED is responsible for watchkeeping, upkeep and maintenance of the vessel’s engineering plant as directed by the assistant engineer.
Successful candidates will have three years experience in marine engineering demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility; Possess a valid MMD card with QMED endorsement; lifeboatman endorsement preferred.
Must be willing to work 9-12 hour day with occasional overtime.

Hornblower Marine Services is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual for the position of Chief Mate for our Westpac Express operation based in Japan. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for the following job duties (this list is not all inclusive but meant to be a preview of the expectations of this position). Summary: Support the Departmental directive to operate the safest possible high-speed ferry service. Assist the Master with the management and safe operation of the vessel in a fashion that exceeds the highest standards within the passenger vessel industry. Consider guest and team member safety a prime responsibility to be safeguarded at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assist Master in deck operations of the vessel and be ready to assume Masters responsibilities. •Supervise embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and cargo. •Manage and operate vessel within legal requirements of USCG, FCC, IMO-HSC and other pertinent regulatory agencies. •Compile, review and maintain official vessel logs and other necessary reports and forms. •Monitor safety issues on vessel and correct problems under the direction of the Master. •Assist Master in role as onboard Risk Manager. •Assist Master in the establishment of a safety “culture” and take corrective action as situations may require. •Take a lead role in the training of crewmembers. •Organize and participate in drills with crewmembers as directed by the Master. •Assure the proper recordation of all drill activities. •Schedule and perform Safety audits as mandated by company policy and as circumstances require. •Take a lead role in maintaining and updating charts and publications. •Ensure that the performance and behavior of Deck Department Team Members meets legal and professional requirements. •Participate in the development of task prioritization and capital projects in consultation with Master. •Participate in Marine Department meetings as required by Master or Operations Manager. •Participate and recommend actions regarding interviewing, training and evaluation of Deck Crew candidates. •Follow the onboard chain of command structure and duties assigned under the Watch Quarter Station Bill.

Engineer/Maintenance Tech (4/29/08)
Hornblower Marine Services is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individuals for the position of Engineer/Maintenance Tech for our Dauphin Island Operation. The Engineer/Maintenance Tech is responsible for: these ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – the following are not all-inclusive. • Paint, repair, clean, and generally improve facilities, vessels and equipment as required by the General Manager. • Requisition supplies, tools and other resources from General Manager as needed. • Utilize power tools to accomplish designated tasks. • Maintains supply, tool and parts inventories. • Carry out and complete assigned tasks within legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies. • Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, ship’s ramps, and shore side facilities in all weather conditions. • Perform lookout duties while underway - to include watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potential unsafe conditions onboard and otherwise. • Monitor passenger & crewmember safety issues on the boat. Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials. • Use of approved Hazmat required for Paints, Solvents & Cleaning Agents.

Deckhand (05/12/08)
Perform duties related to passenger safety, passenger service, vessel operations and vessel maintenance. Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Some basic seamanship. Ability to effectively interact with the public, strong customer service skills. Strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills. Computer literate. Ability and interest to learn and advance.
Guest Services experience, plus 1 year on board vessels with some deck responsibility. Passenger Vessel Experience a plus.
Engineer
Responsible for operation and repair of engines, fire pumps system, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC and security equipment.
Licensed as Designated Duty Engineer, any horsepower or more by the USCG, or QMED.

JOB SUMMARY Observes river and passengers to ensure safety during ferry operation and/or special events. Handles lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat. Performs custodial and maintenance tasks as directed. Provide high level of customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – the following are essential functions of the job but are not all-inclusive. •Handles mooring lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat. •Carry out and complete assigned tasks within legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies. •Assist with training of crew as directed. Cross-train as Toll Collector. •Assist with filling water, bunkering fuel, and shore power connect & disconnect, engine room repairs & maintenance as directed. •Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, ship’s ramps, and shore side facilities in all weather conditions. •Perform lookout duties while underway - to include watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potential unsafe conditions onboard and otherwise. •Monitor passenger & crewmember safety issues on the boat. Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials. •Develop understanding of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, fire stations, life preservers, work vest, life floats, rescue boat). •Participate in meetings, training, drills and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy. •Perform cleaning tasks of the vessels & property as required. •Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required. •Assist in boarding and disembarking of passengers. •Comply with rules and regulations contained in the Crew Handbook and as directed by Supervisor including, but not limited to: oReport to work on time and ready for duty; oDepart the vessel(s) only when properly relieved; oEnsure that the proper uniform is worn and grooming standards are met; oComplete required administrative forms clearly and accurately. •Present professional level of customer service and appearance to all – internal and external. •Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Experience/Education/Certification Previous customer service experience preferred. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age Must wear safety equipment as mandated by the USCG. High School Diploma or Equivalent Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, post-accident testing An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
